Magic of Myths: season two news… and a new book June 21, 2012

So, here we are… and here’s the news, which comes in both good and bad flavours.

First, veggies before dessert. The bad news is that Magic of Myths: season two has slipped into 2013. This is mainly my (Corey) fault – to make the expected launch of late summer meant compromising the script and, in turn, rushing Sergio to complete the artwork, which is unacceptable. There was, at first, a small hope that we would make launch in time for the Thought Bubble convention in Leeds this November, but as time ticked onward, it became clear that this wasn’t viable without making some severe compromises to the story. Again, unacceptable.

So I can only apologise for the delay. We’ll announce a release date for Magic of Myths: season two next year once things are back on track.

However, here’s that dessert I mentioned…

We’re still releasing a Magic of Myths book this year. Which may seem a little crazy, but hear us out.

This November, at Thought Bubble, we’ll be launching the Magic of Myths 2013 preview book. As a little peacemaker and show of appreciation to you guys who have stuck with us and given us so much support, we wanted to create something to keep you going while you wait for the second season of the book. It also gives you some indication of what to expect next year.

So, what will be in this preview book? First of all, a seven-page preview of Magic of Myths: season two. Despite the delay, we have been working on the second season bit by bit, and it’s only fair to share that with you, even at its early stage.

But that’s not all. We’ve a few surprises in store for you as well to make sure this book gives you a fair bit of value for your money. Some exclusive bits… and and a sneaky little something which we’ve yet to announce.

We’ll have more news on all of this, soon – but thanks for your patience and support, as always.

…and still working.

After a couple of successful conventions (special thanks to the Clockwork Watch and Bayou Arcana crew, too, as well as everyone who came over and purchased a copy of Magic of Myths: season one), our plans for Magic of Myths have changed a little. It means there are going to be a couple of significant switches to this year’s launch of Magic of Myths: season two.

We’re just hammering out some details and then we’ll give you the full lowdown, so stay tuned…

So, Bristol came and Bristol went – and we had a great time. Magic of Myths was placed alongside the well-received books Clockwork Watch: The Arrival, Skal and Bayou Arcana: Songs of Loss and Redemption:

All four books sold well (Clockwork Watch: The Arrival especially) and what was wonderfully gratifying to hear from Magic of Myths‘ perspective, was how much people enjoyed season one. Those who purchased the book last year took the time to come over and say stuff like:

“I really enjoyed it, thank you!”

“I noticed even more things when I read it the second time around!”

“Do you have another one coming out?”

All of which was hugely humbling and unexpected to hear.

Even more unexpected was a very flattering and generous invite from Bayou Arcana figurehead Jimmy Pearson, asking the Clockwork Watch team to share his table at the star-studded Kapow convention in London this weekend. So Corey will be along with Yomi Ayeni to sell Clockwork Watch: The Arrival, and will also bring along some copies of Magic of Myths: season one – keep an eye out for us and say hi!

Is it that time already? Wow.

Bristol Comic and Small Press Expo is upon us once more this weekend on 12th and 13th May – and Magic of Myths: season one will be there! Corey will be selling the book at the rather special Markosia Showcase at the Ramada, alongside his fellow creators Yomi Ayeni and Jennie Gyllblad as they talk about, sell and sign copies of their new transmedia project and graphic novel, Clockwork Watch. Come over and say hi!

Corey will also be mentioning the future of Magic of Myths in a transmedia panel/talk on the day at the Ramada at 11.45am, along with Barry Nugent, Stephen M Downey and Scott Grandison. If you want to discover the next steps of Magic of Myths, along with some other goodies from the above talented creators, be sure to come along.

Magic of Myths: season one can also be purchased via:
