…Yes, you guessed, it, more Magic of Myths: Faerie tidbits.
We’ve been teasing Magic of Myths: Faerie for the past month, but now it’s really time to peel back a larger layer of the project. And what better time than on William Shakespeare’s birthday?
In case some of the characters didn’t tip you off, Magic of Myths: Faerie is based around and – more importantly – after Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In our story, the classic play has been written and performed… and someone from the Faerie kingdom is brutally unhappy with it. So much, that something must be done. Alas, an event is already happening that will change the realm of Faerie forever – and have massive consequences on the overall Magic of Myths storyline.
Eagle-eyed Magic of Myths readers will have noticed this isn’t the first time we’ve referenced Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the series. Why this is will be revealed over time…
The fantastic artwork you’re seeing across this page are Sergio’s early sketches for a little Magic of Myths: Faerie teaser we’re putting together while the book is being created. We’ll show you more soon, but tell us what you think!

Some final character sketches from Magic of Myths: Faerie before we show off a little bit of colour…
These are the last three main characters of Magic of Myths: Faerie – Mercury, Hermes and “Greenie”. While they have small parts in the story, their actions are significant.
Those who are familiar with Magic of Myths to date will know it involves Greek and Roman deities co-existing, and this story marks the first appearance of Hermes (Greek messenger, god of trade, thieves, travelers, sports; guide to the Underworld) and Mercury (Roman messenger, god of financial gain, travelers, luck, trickery, thieves; guide to the Underworld). Both are visiting Faerie, and neither leaves the same by the end of the tale – something which impacts the events seen in Magic of Myths: season two.
“Greenie”, on the other hand, is entirely new to Magic of Myths. He’s our version of the archetypical nature deity and the sage of Faerie. Robin relies on him for advice, which is something very much required given the events of the story…

It’s time to check in on more Magic of Myths: Faerie character artwork…
Oberon, the king of the fairies. His regal manner cannot hide a single minded bitterness that threatens to change his entire realm, and everyone in it. While he’s well practiced in the art of war, there is only one rival who he cannot overcome. A fact which drives him to the most drastic of measures…

So, another pencil sketch of Magic of Myths: Faerie for you…
This is Robin – our spunky lead character. She’s one of the most striking beings in all of Faerie, yet there’s a great anger within her. Is it because she cannot be who she wants to be… or is there something more dangerous guiding her down a path of self-destruction?
A few more sketches are on their way…

Back in 2012, Magic of Myths‘ artist Sergio Calvet created a new short story for the Magic of Myths: 2013 preview book, called A Tale of Times and Trials Past…
It was a ‘silent’ story – no dialogue at all – acting as a different ‘introduction’ to the series. And we’re happy to share that with you here, for free.

…to make up for the lack of them over the past few weeks.
Sorry for the somewhat forced radio silence – lots have been going on in preparation for Christmas, conventions and 2014, so we’ve been a tad busy. But the good news is there have been many things happening for us to talk about.
First up, we had a lovely couple of shout outs recently. The first is from our pals over at Geek Syndicate, as part of their podcast blurb:
http://castroller.com/podcasts/GeeksyndicatesPodcast/3775277
And the second is from the super kind and talented artist/comic book creator Celina Hernandez, who not only gave us a mention on her Chibi Minute video:
…but also did this rather wonderful chibi version of our main gal, Eve:

More please, Celina!
In case you missed it, Celina was also one of the excellent artists who contributed to our Magic of Myths 2013 preview book from last year, creating this gem:

Love it!
