We’ve been lucky enough to get a couple more reviews published for Magic of Myths over the last few months, and while they’re fairly mixed on a whole, we appreciate the time and consideration taken by the reviewers to write about the series:
“Calvet’s art is, if anything, even stronger this time out: his clash of ancient power is less grim and bloody than Di Amorim gives us in God is Dead; it’s closer to a more kid-friendly version of something like 300, but even in his cartoony style, he brings intensity to the combat, and punctuates Eve’s story beats with wit and pathos, as called for.”
– CHUD [read the whole thing here: http://www.chud.com/146712/thors-comic-column-112213/]
and
“It’s full of cool references that have enough broad appeal that anyone can enjoy them but are also select enough that anyone with a more specific knowledge of myth and folklore will be able to appreciate the fan service going into the development of the story and the presence of these characters and creatures.”

Many thanks to both publications for their kind words and taking the time to review the books.

We’re delighted to announce that Magic of Myths will be attending the world-famous San Diego Comic Con next month!
No, we can hardly believe it, either.
From July 11 to 21 at the San Diego Convention Center (Small Press area, the Clockwork Watch Films table: O-08) you can find Magic of Myths writer Corey Brotherson sharing a table with Clockwork Watch creator Yomi Ayeni. They’ll have copies of Clockwork Watch: The Arrival, Clockwork Watch: Breakaway, debuting a new book called Clockwork Watch: Tick Tock IPA, and, of course Magic of Myths: season one, Magic of Myths: season two joining other goodies.
In fact, along with Clockwork Watch: Tick Tock IPA making its first appearance, we’ll also be debuting our Magic of Myths: season one and season two combo book!
This book will be on general sale at the end of July and contains Magic of Myths: season one and Magic of Myths: season two (regular edition). It’s the perfect introduction for anyone looking to get into Magic of Myths and get right up to speed without delay. We’ll have more details on this book closer to release.
We’ll also have very low numbers of Magic of Myths: season two (limited edition) to offer our American based audience the chance to grab a copy before it goes out of print forever. You still have a day to pre-order if you haven’t already: http://wp.me/pSxcG-g6.
You can check out Clockwork Watch Films via the hall map, here: www.comic-con.org/cci/2013/small-press/exhibitors.
If you’re around for the Con, we hope to see you there!

A couple more reviews have come in for Magic of Myths (both seasons one and two):
“Utilising a cartoonish art style from Calvet accompanied by witty writing from Brotherson makes this title an easily read, enjoyable piece work… Magic of Myths seamlessly blends modern-day heroism with ancient mythology in a way that only Calliope could counter. “
– Comic Books and Cookies [read the whole thing here: http://myheartliesinfilmandcomics.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/review-of-magic-of-myths-season-one-by.html ]
and:
“I read through both seasons in one sitting and that’s always a clear indicator of a really engaging comic book… The fact that we’re not following a mainstream comic book style heroine in a bikini armour suit immediately earned points for Magic and Myths for me. There’s the overlap of familiar with an attempt to do things differently here. It works.“

Many thanks to both publications for their kind words and taking the time to review the books.
